- אִילְיָא, אִילְיָיא,(אֶלְיָיה) אֶלְיָא m. (ילי, אלי v. ילל; cmp. אֱלִי Joel 1:8) mourning, lamentation, dirge. Targ. 2 Sam. 1:17; 2 Chron. 35:25; a. fr.Y.Sot.VII, 21c top; Meg.I, 71b bot. סורסי לאילייא Syriac is adapted for dirges; Esth. R. to I, 22 פרסי לאלייה (corr. acc.).
